I have in the last 4 years acquired
experience relating to agricultural development and private agricultural
extension in Nigeria. Specifically, focusing on incorporating smallholder
farmers into higher value markets through training on improved agronomic
practices and dissemination of information on agronomic innovations and
marketing of farm produce using value chain approach so as to increase farmers’
income and improve the standard of living of the rural poor.
I have in the past been actively involved in
implementation of food security projects in collaboration with IITA
(International Institute of Tropical Agriculture) funded by USAID/MARKETS under
the USAID Global Food Security Response Program. And I played a central role in the projects
by facilitating the selection, clustering, mobilization and training of
farmers; establishment of demonstration fields; collection of data for baseline
study; distribution of improved varieties cassava cuttings and monitoring the
progress of the project.
My
professional masters training has developed my knowledge, skill and attitude in
supervision of a developmental research with the aim of using the research
output to contribute to development
My previous job responsibility as the raw material
manager has developed my competence in relating with the farming communities on
behave of an organization with the utmost aim to achieve organizational goals
for the benefit of the targeted community..
Further to this, my experience as an agricultural
extensionist in a private sector has developed my competence in capacity
building, networking and collaborating with both public and private sectors
stakeholders in agriculture. Similarly, dissemination of information on modern
agronomic practices to farmers is one of my core competence.
I have a professional
masters in rural development and food security which has developed my skill in
relating with targeted communities. I will leverage on my experience and
knowledge on research and development to Provide technical support to stakeholders of agricultural development and
other developmental agencies using approach that will functions effectively,
sustainably and beneficially to the well-being of the current and future
generations of people living below the poverty line.
